Sintra is a small granitic mountain chain covered by dense forests which benefits from a unique climate situation. Castles, palaces and monuments contrast with an lush green landscape that results in a perfect symbiosis between nature and built heritage and thus Sintra has been classified a World Heritage by UNESCO.
Sintra offers high quality beaches, water, waves and infrastructure. Besides the well known beaches, there are others that are hidden paradises that should not be missed.
Cascais, located south of Sintra´s mountain, was for a long time a leisure and resting place for some royal and noble families of Europe, that were attracted by the beautiful landscape and climate of this cosmopolitan village bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.
Nowadays this peculiar atmosphere has changed and the village has turned into a cultural center with a vibrant atmosphere, established by the innumerous bars, restaurants, nightlife and Casino games, commerce and trade fairs where local handicrafts can be purchased.
The coastline between Carcavelos and Guincho is one of the best in the world, starting at Caxias beach, 10km from the city of Lisbon. It is a scenic 30 minute drive along the coast passing through the historical picturesque village of Cascais, until the Guincho beach.
This coastline has a big variety of quality waves 6 months a year, with prevalent Northwest winds, offshore in various spots. It is almost like a waterpark with 20-25 waves for sure. There aren´t many places in the world with so much variety of waves in such a short distance.
